Participation in the AASHE.org STARS assessment involves tracking and reporting on our sustainability initiatives and performance. The STARS tool enables us to create a baseline for continuous improvement, direct our actions and plans, benchmark against other institutions, generate new ideas, and see best practices from around the globe.

The STARS assessment tool suggests steps and provides measurable criteria for improving sustainability efforts across the university, including academics, student engagement, community outreach, air and climate impacts, energy consumption, food and dining, grounds and janitorial, purchasing goods/services, transportation, waste management, diversity and affordability, wellbeing at work and investment and finance.
