The Pulliam Center for International Education is proud to host International Student Orientation (ISO) every fall and spring term for all incoming international undergraduate, graduate, and exchange students. It is our goal to support you as you transition from your home country to the beautiful Myers Park area of Charlotte, North Carolina. This customized orientation includes:

• welcoming events,
• information sessions about your responsibilities while on a student visa in the U.S.,
• specialized introductions to campus departments and resources,
• an opportunity to open a U.S. bank account,
• a shopping excursion to purchase supplies and essential items needed for a smoother transition,
• a social outing where you can meet other new international students and Queens University’s International Ambassadors.

Airport Pick-up

If you schedule your flights to arrive at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Arrival Day you will receive complimentary shuttle service from the airport to campus. You can enter your travel plans and flight details in your application portal.

Pre-Arrival

International Student Services will host Q&A sessions in the weeks prior to arrival to provide you with all the move-in details and to answer any questions you may have in preparation for arrival. You will also be added to the online CANVAS Course: International Student Pre-Arrival Information, where we have prepared videos and resources to help ensure every student has a successful experience and knows what is required to maintain their visa status.

Orientation Basics

• SIM Card:ISS will provide each student with a SIM upon arrival. You may choose to continue the cellular service at an additional cost.
• Immigration Session: Learn all about your F-1 visa guidelines to maintain compliance.
• Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP): We partner with Gallagher and WellFleet to bring you a comprehensive insurance plan with voluntary vision and dental.
• Shopping: ISS will shuttle you to local stores so you can purchase all dorm, health, and wellness necessities.
• Cultural Expectation Session:Learn about the U.S. culture and how it may affect your educational journey.
• Academic Expectation Session:Learn about the Queens University academic standards, code of conduct, and honor code.
