Pre-Veterinary Medicine

What You’ll Study

What does it take to become a successful vet? It takes: 1) a love for animals, people, and a personal connection with them, and 2) a deep curiosity for the sciences and a well-rounded liberal arts experience. At Queens, you bring the passion, and we will equip you with an exceptional foundation in biology and the liberal arts experiences to prepare you with the competitive edge you need for veterinary school. Smaller classes will also enhance your learning experience and discussion with classmates.

Students in pre-professional pathways receive specialized faculty advising on the path to veterinary school. Curious about what extracurriculars look best on an application or need feedback on application materials? Your faculty advisor will guide you throughout your journey at Queens, making sure you take the right classes you need to apply to the school of your choice.

How Can You Use This Degree?

As a pre-vet student, you can pursue a variety of biology-based careers, such as certified veterinary technician, dog trainer, fish and wildlife biologist, wildlife rehabilitator, or zoologist. Pre-vet students can find work at an animal shelter or animal-centric nonprofit, an aquarium or zoo, or at a state wildlife department.
