What You’ll Study
Optometrists are the main providers of vision care. They examine our eyes to check visual acuity, diagnose eye diseases and disorders, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses for patients. At Queens, you bring the passion, and we equip you with an exceptional foundation in the sciences to get you in the right program and the liberal arts perspective that contributes to becoming a reputable doctor. Smaller classes will also enhance your learning experience and discussion with classmates.
Students in pre-professional pathways receive specialized faculty advising on the path to optometry school as well as internship experiences to learn more about the profession. How Can You Use This Degree?
After graduating from optometry school, you may choose to specialize in areas such as primary care, low vision rehabilitation, or ocular disease. Most optometrists start their careers in general practice working in a variety of settings, such as:
