Biography

Dr. Badillo Carlos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of World Languages at Queens University of Charlotte. He teaches Spanish and general education courses. His professional experience in Higher Education since 2011 includes teaching Spanish, conducting research, working as a copy editor, translator, and interpreter. His research focuses on the historizations and representations of State violence and corruption through contemporary literature, music, and film.

Dr. Badillo Carlos enjoys listening to music like narcocorridos (drug ballads), watching satire films and tv series like Narcos and Breaking Bad, reading detective novels and more to analyze how violence and corruption is (re)presented. He has also done research on the representation of Chicanx, Latinx, and migrant students in higher education and in media. On his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing soccer and videogames, hiking, bike riding, flying drones and learning about new technologies. He is a producer of the podcast titled Descubriendo Momentos [Discovering Moments]. This is a self-funded and student-centered podcast that aims to celebrate and highlight students’ stories and their work on and off campus.
