Preyer History Fellows Program

The History department has a long tradition of excellence, with award-winning faculty, enterprising students, and alumni who have gone on to embark on successful careers in business, law, non-profits, and public service.

The Preyer History Fellows Program builds on this tradition of excellence by rewarding high-achieving undergraduate history majors with scholarships to pursue international study, internships, and more. These fellows also have access to conferences and networking events, giving them opportunities for both individual research and collaborative learning that will equip them for transformative experiences as students and professional success as alumni.

Program Details

Each Preyer History Fellow will:

  • Receive at least $2000 in awards and independent research funds.
  • Be eligible to compete for up to $2000 in additional scholarships available exclusively to Preyer History Fellows for international study and internships.
  • Be honored as special guests at the annual Preyer Lecture and dinner where they will meet and talk with distinguished scholars who have been invited to campus to share their latest research.
  • Have the opportunity to attend the annual Phil Alpha Theta Carolinas Regional Conference where they can share their passion for the past – and their own research projects – with students and faculty from across the Southeast.
