Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Ready to launch your nursing career? Whether you’re coming from high school or transferring from another institution, Queens University’s Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program gives you a strong, supported start.

Nursing coursework begins each fall, offering a focused and engaging path into the field. If you’re earning your first degree, you may take additional courses to meet graduation requirements — and you’ll have the guidance and encouragement to move forward with confidence.

BSN Pathways at Queens

Ready to turn your passion for health care into a career? At Queens, you can choose the BSN pathway that fits your starting point — and your goals.

  • First-Year (Pre-Nursing) – Begin as a first-year student, build your foundation, and apply to Upper Division during your sophomore year.
  • First-Year Direct Admit (Upper Division Nursing) – Highly qualified first-year students may qualify for direct admission to Upper Division Nursing from the start.
  • Transfer Students – Join Queens from another institution and apply once your prerequisite coursework is complete.

No matter where you begin, you’ll gain hands-on experience, dedicated support, and the momentum to launch a meaningful nursing career.

Eligibility Requirements

Transfer BSN Applicants

If you’re looking to transfer into Queens, you can apply through the Queens application or the Common App. Transfer applicants must have:

  • At least 45 credit hours completed toward a degree
  • A 3.0 GPA or higher in your most recent three semesters or 30 credit hours (whichever is greater)
  • All eight prerequisite courses completed with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • An SAT score of 1100+, ACT score of 22+ (within the last five years), or a TEAS score of 65+ (within the last two years)

Transfer applicants may have up to two prerequisite courses in progress at the time of application. These must be finished before the program begins, and both courses cannot be sciences. Applicants must provide proof of in-progress coursework.

First Year Applicants for Upper Division Nursing (Direct Admit)

Students interested in direct admission apply through the Queens application or the Common App. To qualify, you’ll need:

  • An SAT score of 1100 or higher, an ACT score of 22 or higher (taken within the last five years), or a TEAS score of 65 or higher (taken within the last two years)
  • A 3.5 unweighted core GPA

BSN Application Timeline

Applying to the BSN program is a key step in your nursing journey, and we want you to feel confident and prepared. When the application window opens, you’ll complete one application for both Queens University and the nursing program. Be sure to submit all required materials — including transcripts from every institution you’ve attended — by the deadline to ensure your application is ready for review.

Submitting early is a great way to stay on track and avoid any last-minute stress. Once the deadline passes and your application is complete, you can expect a decision within six weeks.
