Queens University of Charlotte is honored to announce that Mayor Vi Lyles ‘73 will be the commencement speaker for Queens University’s 165th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

A Queens alumna, Lyles has a long history of public service and is a strong advocate for education, opportunity, and innovation. Her insights and experiences will be invaluable to Queens’ graduating class as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mayor Lyles back to Queens to join us for this momentous occasion,” said Queens University of Charlotte President Dan Lugo. “As a proud Queens alumna, Mayor Lyles embodies the values of Queens University and our motto, ‘Not to be served, but to serve.’ A champion for our city and its people, her upcoming speech promises to leave a lasting impression on our graduates.”

Queens University’s commencement ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on May 4 at the Hall Brown Terrace outside of Queens Hall.
